Networking — Business Telephony

Telephone Systems Implementation

VOWTECH designs, installs and configures office telephone systems for businesses in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and across the UAE — IP PBX platforms, desk phones, call routing, voicemail and auto-attendants — built on a network prepared for voice, so callers reach the right person and calls stay clear.

// OVERVIEW

A Phone System Is a Network Project

Modern office telephone systems run over the same data network as your computers. The PBX — the system that manages extensions, routes incoming calls and provides voicemail — is a server or appliance, and each desk phone is a network device. Call quality therefore depends as much on switches and cabling as on the phones themselves.

That is why VOWTECH treats telephony as part of the infrastructure. Before installing anything we check that the structured cabling, switch ports and power-over-Ethernet capacity can support the handsets, and that voice traffic can be prioritised on a network switch configuration with a separate voice VLAN.

External lines are provided by your licensed UAE telecom operator, as traditional lines or SIP trunks, and we configure the PBX to work with them. After handover, the system can be maintained together with the rest of your network under an IT annual maintenance contract.

On-Premises, Hybrid or Upgrade

The right design depends on your existing lines, the number of sites and how much of the current system is worth keeping.

On-Premises IP PBX

A PBX appliance or server installed in your comms room, with IP desk phones on the office network. You control the system, and internal calls stay inside your own network.

Suited to single offices and head offices
Extensions, groups and voicemail on site
Connects to operator lines or SIP trunks
Protected by UPS power in the rack

Hybrid Systems

A mix of IP and traditional telephony — useful when existing analogue lines, fax machines, lift phones or door intercoms must be retained alongside new IP handsets.

Keeps existing analogue devices working
Gateways link old lines to the IP system
Phased move to IP at your own pace
Reuses serviceable cabling where possible

Multi-Site Telephony

Branches share one numbering plan, so staff dial a short extension to reach colleagues in another office. Sites are linked securely over your existing connectivity.

Features Set Up During Implementation

The value of a phone system lies in how it is configured. We set these up with you rather than leaving the defaults.

Auto-Attendant & Call Routing

A greeting with menu options, time-based routing for working hours, evenings and public holidays, and sensible fallbacks so no call rings out unanswered.

IVR MenuTime RulesFallbacks

Extensions & Ring Groups

An extension for each user, with ring groups and hunt groups for sales, support and reception so calls reach a team rather than a single desk.

Voicemail & Notifications

Personal and departmental voicemail boxes, with messages delivered to email where the system supports it, so nothing waits unnoticed on a handset.

Handsets & Conference Phones

Desk phones, reception consoles, cordless handsets and meeting room conference units provisioned, labelled and tested at each position.

Voice Network Configuration

Voice VLAN, quality-of-service settings and power over Ethernet on the switches, plus firewall rules that allow telephony traffic without exposing the PBX.

System Security

Strong extension and administrator passwords, restricted international dialling, limited remote access and current firmware, to guard against toll fraud and misuse.

// IMPLEMENTATION STEPS

From Call Flow to First Call

A structured rollout, with the switchover planned so the main number is never left unanswered.

Assessment & Planning

We record users, departments, lines and how calls should flow, and check the network and cabling.

System & Hardware Selection

A PBX, handsets and any gateways are proposed to match your size, lines and growth plans.

Installation

The PBX is installed in the rack, switches are prepared for voice and phones are placed on desks.

Configuration & Testing

Extensions, routing, greetings and voicemail are configured, then inbound and outbound calls are tested.

Training & Handover

Reception and staff are shown the everyday functions, and the administrator receives documentation.

// WHY VOWTECH

What a Well-Implemented Phone System Delivers

Callers judge a business by how their call is handled. Good configuration matters more than the brand of handset.

Clear Calls

Voice traffic is prioritised on a properly configured network, avoiding the choppy audio caused by congestion.

Callers Reach the Right Person

Thought-through menus, groups and out-of-hours rules mean fewer lost calls and fewer transfers.

Room to Grow

Adding a user is a matter of a handset and an extension, and new branches can join the same system.

One Team for Voice and Data

VOWTECH, based in Abu Dhabi, supports the phones and the network under them, so faults are not passed between suppliers.

Telephone System Questions

A PBX is the private telephone exchange inside a business: it provides extensions, transfers, call groups, voicemail and the menu callers hear. An IP PBX does this over the data network using IP phones instead of separate telephone wiring, which makes moves, additions and multi-site setups much simpler.
In most cases, yes. Your numbers belong to your account with the telecom operator, not to the old phone system. The new PBX is configured to use the same lines or trunks, so callers dial the numbers they always have. We confirm the details with you during planning.
Not always. We check switch capacity, power over Ethernet, cabling condition and whether voice can be separated and prioritised. Many offices need only configuration changes; others need an additional PoE switch or some cabling work, which our networking and infrastructure team can carry out.
External telephone lines and SIP trunks in the UAE are provided by the licensed telecom operators. You hold that account directly. VOWTECH supplies and configures the PBX, handsets and network on your side and works with the operator technical team during activation and testing.
