VOWTECH plans and builds server rooms and comms rooms for offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and across the UAE. We deal with the room as a whole — layout, power and UPS, cooling, racks, cabling, physical security and environmental monitoring — so the equipment inside has stable conditions to run in.
In the UAE climate, heat is the first enemy of IT equipment, followed closely by unstable power and dust. Servers placed in a store room with a domestic air conditioner, a shared power circuit and an unlocked door tend to suffer faults that have nothing to do with the servers themselves. A server room exists to remove those causes.
Setting one up is a coordination exercise across several trades. VOWTECH takes the IT side end to end — layout, server racks, UPS systems, cabling, monitoring and equipment installation — and works with your fit-out contractor or building management on electrical supply, air conditioning and fire protection so that each part is specified with the others in mind.
The same thinking scales down. A small office may only need a ventilated, lockable comms cupboard with a wall cabinet and a UPS. For larger facilities with multiple rows and redundant plant, our data centre page describes that level of build.
The starting point differs, and so does the work involved.
The ideal case: the room is planned during fit-out, so its location, size, power feed, cooling and cable routes are decided before walls and ceilings are closed.
For smaller offices: a cupboard or small room with a wall or half-height cabinet, a UPS, ventilation or a split unit, tidy patching and a lock on the door.
A working room that has outgrown itself — hot spots, overloaded power strips, no spare rack space. Improvements are phased so systems stay online.
Six elements are considered together, because a weakness in one undermines the rest.
Rack positions, front and rear service clearances, door swing, cable entry points and room for future racks are drawn up before anything is ordered.
We calculate the equipment load, size the UPS and runtime, specify dedicated circuits with your electrician and plan distribution so dual-supply devices use two paths.
Heat output is estimated and shared with your AC contractor. Racks are arranged so cool air reaches equipment fronts and hot exhaust has a path away, ideally with a standby unit.
Cabinets, patch panels, overhead or under-floor containment and fibre or copper links are installed, tested and labelled to a consistent scheme.
The door can be fitted with access control so entry is limited and logged, and a camera can cover the room and its entrance.
Sensors for temperature, humidity, water leaks and door status send alerts when conditions drift, so an AC failure on a weekend is known about quickly.
The sequence matters: power and cooling must be ready before equipment is switched on.
We assess the space, existing power and cooling, access routes and the equipment to be housed.
A layout drawing, equipment list and load figures are produced and agreed with all parties.
Electrical, cooling and containment works are completed and checked before IT equipment arrives.
Racks, UPS, cabling, network and servers are installed, dressed and labelled to the layout.
UPS changeover, alerts and links are tested; drawings and records are handed over.
